The purpose of the project was to empower community members, particularly tsunami victims, with traditional skills needed to achieve economic self-sufficiency. Through this undertaking, CSS staff hoped to improve the health and well-being of affected islanders and provide a source of income for their families. The project‘s objective was to provide traditional skills training in farming and handicraft making to low income community members affected by the tsunami and cannery closing.
